Time to enjoy summer season in Jim Thorpe
After what seemed like an endless winter and a chilly spring, we are looking forward to a great summer season in Jim Thorpe, the Gateway to the Pocono Mountains.
The Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway is back, running train rides on weekends, The Old Jail, Mauch Chunk Museum and Asa Packer Mansion are open for tours. There’s a great line-up at the Mauch Chunk Opera House, deck parties at Penn’s Peak and all the outdoor adventure you can muster.
Chris and I are also proud to be sponsors of a couple of great upcoming events.
First up is Saturday’s Pat Ytsma Ride Safe Bike Tour to benefit his children. An avid cyclist and cycling safety advocate, he died from injuries sustained when he was hit by a car. For more about the race and the man it memorializes, visit http://www.patytsmabiketour.com/3/miscellaneous1.htm

There will be 20 mile and 40 mile marked courses through Lehigh and Berks Counties. Ride at your own pace with rest stops along the way. The ride will start and end at Earl Adams Memorial Park in Breinigsville, PA.
Check in will be at 7am. 40 mile riders must depart by 8:00 am. 20 mile riders must depart by 8:30 am. Maps will be provided at the start. All riders must return to the start point by 1pm.
Chris and I are also looking forward to seeing Ben Taylor and his band live in concert at the Mauch Chunk Opera House on Saturday, July 6th, and are proud to be a sponsor for the show. A talented musician and singer-songwriter, Taylor was blessed with musical genes from both his mother, Carly Simon, and father, James Taylor. I’ve seen him perform on TV before but never live. Can’t wait!!
