For your Times in Jim Thorpe
Rand McNally announced yesterday that Jim Thorpe is the top vote-getting finalist in its 2013 Best of the Road, Most Fun Small Town in America contest. The other four finalists are Lombard, IL, Corning, NY; Geneva-on-the-Lake, OH; and Nocona, TX.
That’s no surprise to folks who know and love the town – the gateway to the Pocono Mountains – as well as the thousands of visitors that flock to Jim Thorpe for parades, festivals and year-round fun out the wazoo.
Jim Thorpe was also a 2012 finalist in Rand McNally’s Most Beautiful Small Town in America category.
You can check out the beauty but also some of the fun in these videos from when judges Dusty and Nikki Green came to town last year.
According to the Best of the Road website, the Most Fun finalists, along with finalists in the Most Beautiful, Most Patriotic, Friendliest, Best for Food and Best for Geocaching “will demonstrate – in words, pictures, and/or video – to our panel of judges why they deserve to win the title in their respective categories. The six winners will be announced in mid-October.”
